Boston's Weekly Dig

So my work ended up making the cover of the Dig! The monday before it came out, I had the ABSOLUTE worst day at work where I just kept screwing everything up. (I'm not really cut out for the restaurant business.) Then I came home to an email from the art director saying they wanted to use my piece, which totally made up for everything that had happened earlier.

When I saw it printed, I was surprised by how great it looked. I've heard that printing on newsprint is horrid, but I actually think the color came out closer to how I intended it than the first piece of mine that was published, which was printed on a nice coated and varnished paper.

They ended up cropping it a bit differently because they didn't use the little spot illustrations/photos at the top  that they've been using recently, and so the cover image needed to be more square than rectangular. But it still came out nicely, as you can see below:
